The Peter Lamont Award – Spotlighting New Talent Entries:

This award has been renamed in honour of Production Designer and BFDG member Peter Lamont, who sadly passed away in December 2020. Peter was always keen to help and support young talent in the Art Department and as this award’s intention is to highlight the future stars of the next generation of filmmakers the BFDG thought it would be a fitting tribute to dedicate this award to him.

In this first round of voting each entry has been accompanied by their (BFDG member) proposer/s submission statement. After the first vote by the membership, the 3 entries going through to the final, will then be asked to submit work to accompany the submission statement.
(Please note the final of this category will be voted on by the BFDG committee only)

Certificates will also be given to all finalist nominees.

Daisy Bradley

Petty Cash Buyer (Junior)

She is always cheerful, enthusiastic and keen whatever the task she is given. She is a fabulous team player – gets on with everyone in the department and is loved by all departments . She is incredibly hard working , ALWAYS asking if she is unclear about anything and has a wonderful cheerful, kind demeanour ….she has been a wonderful addition to a busy department during a time that is particularly difficult for the younger members of the department to work within.

Emma Ford

Junior Assistant Buyer

Emma came to us as set dec runner on Tom & Jerry. She very quickly became an absolute lynchpin in our department and was given more responsibility. Always so dedicated, hardworking and tirelessly cheery, helpful and so very, very kind. No job was too small, no job too big and she charmed everyone with her demeanour and can do attitude. She was picked up by Mike King to go onto Beasts and their gain is very much my loss. I think she will, and deserves to go very far. An absolute star in the making.

Libby Hoggard

Junior Graphics

Brilliant, fantastic and much much more to work with! Libby has been a brilliant asset to the Midsomer Art dept this year, I cant speak highly enough of her. I met Libby when she first started at Eastenders and knew how great she was going to develop, I tried a few times to bring her in to my art dept. She started with us this year, her work has been fantastic Directors cant believe that this, Board Game, Painting, Photo, Poster & Wolf Hunter Urban Myth came from the Midsomer Art Dept well all Libby.

Matilda Eldon McCaig

Set Dec Assistant

Matilda is a star. She is always positive, up beat and conscientious. She has a strong skill base within the Set Dec team, being a consummate florist, model maker, gfx creator and organiser. Being perceptive of other people’s needs is something one cannot teach and Matilda really notices what needs doing and acts accordingly. One day she will make a fabulous Set Decorator in her own right and right now I am honoured to be part of her journey and help illuminate her way.

Olivia Kidner

Petty Cash Buyer

Olivia left film school in the summer of 2018 and joined us on Victoria 3 for work experience at the end of the course. She quickly proved herself to be efficient, pro-active and incredibly organised with a good eye and an ability to fill in gaps in all areas of the department, from graphics, to drawing up plans and buying props. She is always pleasant and cheerful and has become a very valued and integral member of our team. So much so that we have now stepped her up to petty cash buyer with Screenskills – Make a Move.

Holly MacPherson

Junior Key Dresser

Holly started as my driver (assistant) on The Luminaries. She has since moved up to Key Dresser due to her diligence, good eye, and extraordinary aptness with fabrications. She is currently working with me on Cowboy Bebop (co designed by Grant Major, 2 time oscar winner and Gary Mackay, Art Department Guild winner) where her sets have been astounding. At only 27, she has an extremely bright future ahead of her and she has been irreplaceable in my team.

Victoria Lowe

Petty Cash Buyer

Victoria has been working in the industry for just 18 months and she has already shown amazing talent. She is super keen, eager to learn and has a wonderful ‘can do’ attitude. She can accurately follow a brief, whilst still using her initiative, has a very good eye, is tenacious at research, great at spreadsheets and PO’s, remains calm and helpful in a crisis, and stays polite and efficient under pressure. She also has a sense of humour-always a bonus! Probably most importantly- she loves the film industry. She would be an asset to any art dept.
