The BFDG is a flourishing, growing, professional group of talented individuals who have over 550 accredited memberships of skilled Creatives and Production Designers, spanning the various branches of the Art Department in Film, Television and Commercials.

It was formed with the aim of raising the standards and profile of the Art Department and protecting the interests of its members over 75 years ago. Those core principles still apply today, and we are a thriving and evolving creative community

The application process takes place monthly, with the deadline to be considered within the next available review being the 28th of each month. After this point, your application will automatically roll over into the following period – apply to become a BFDG member today.



The Film and TV Charity have relaunched the Looking Glass Survey to get a snapshot of how everyone who works in the film, TV and cinema industry is feeling. The Survey is now open. We’re encouraging everyone who works in film and TV to take the survey.

BFDG Production Design Awards 2020 – Finalists Announced

The BFDG Production Design Awards 2020 have been announced and the vote to establish the winners is now closed. The winners will be announced at a virtual awards ceremony on 16 May. Click on the link to view the finalists.



Peter was a dedicated member of the BFDG whose contribution cannot be under estimated. He touched countless people’s lives as a friend and colleague and will be very sadly missed by the BFDG.

We are excited to announce that the BFDG Production Design Awards 2021 will be held on Saturday 12 March 2022 at The Londoner, Leicester Square. Not only will we be celebrating the exceptional talent of our members and their peers but also the 75th Anniversary of the BFDG.
