About Us

The British Film Designers Guild (BFDG) is a professional organisation that represents and supports the creative talents involved in production design for film, television, and other visual media in the United Kingdom. Established over 75 years ago to promote excellence in the British Art Department and foster a sense of collaboration and community among our members, the BFDG serves as a platform for networking, professional development, and advocacy.

The BFDG is an all-inclusive, non-political organisation which welcomes into our membership all qualified applicants regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, neuro-diversity, or age.

Our Vision and Mission

We aim to celebrate our members achievements, promote community and excellence, and contribute to the continued growth of the British film and television Art Department. We empower our members to feel confident and united in excellence, sharing important and beautiful stories.

“Joining the BFDG was a game-changer for me that kick started my career in film. After working in the games industry for some years as a Concept Artist, the connections and support I received from my fellow Guild members were vital to breaking into the mysterious world of getting movie work. I would recommend joining the BFDG to anyone serious about a career in the Art Department.”
