The BFDG is an all-inclusive, non-political organisation which welcomes into its membership all qualified applicants regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, neuro-diversity, or age.

The same of course goes for the the BFDG Committee (Management Team), which aims to be representative of all skills, levels and experience; both regional, national and international. Nearly all our Committee Members are working and practically involved in film making.

Full committee meetings are held once a month, normally on the second Tuesday, on Zoom or similar internet communication tool. As a member we encourage you to attend and see what goes on. Should you feel strongly about issues or have value you could add, please get in touch. If you can’t commit for a full term we would still love to hear from you.

The BFDG only benefits if the membership does. The BFDG is the membership. Help us to help you. Get involved at any level. Anytime.

Committee Members 2024-2026

Jonathan Paul Green

Chairperson

Jonathan has been working as a Production Designer for more than 30 years. His early career in the late 80’s involved prop and model making for Spitting Image and Hensons Creature Shop. In the 90’s Jonathan designed many TV Light Entertainment and comedy shows, some of which are still on-going, but now works mostly in HETV scripted comedy and drama. He is very much looking forward to supporting Blair in growing the BFDG and continuing the promotion of excellence within UK Art Departments.

Paul Frost

Vice Chairperson

Paul originally started work as a model maker for Hamleys Christmas windows, music videos and commercials. He discovered the art dept and craved to know more, learning from senior role art crews. Having never studied history or geography in favour of design, discovered a much more fascinating method, when invited to Art Direct abroad telling historical stories in HETV dramas and varied genres of incredible independent films and drama’s too. Based outside London, Paul enjoys meeting and talking to crews all over the country, especially in this role. He hopes to help continue the regional appeal of the BFGD at all grades and to support Jonathan with his and the BFDG committees’ aims.

Julie Wicks

Secretary

Prior to joining the BFDG, Julie founded Grade One TV personnel a freelance crewing agency. Moving forward she held Senior roles in Television Entertainment and Feature Films, working alongside some of the UK’s most accomplished Producers and Directors. Julie has many years of Production experience working at Pinewood, Shepperton, Warner Bros and Elstree Film and Television Studios where she was appointed Director of Production and Marketing successfully developing new client business, enabling further expansion of the Studios and creation of employment in the area.

Malcolm Stone

Treasurer

Malcolm is a long standing member of the BFDG and the Art Department. His earliest memory of a Guild meeting is around 1982 when he first took over the role of Treasurer, in the days of the ‘famous’ blue ledger in which was meticulously recorded the names of every Guild member and their subs payments. He went on to become Chairman of the Guild, creating and illustrating a monthly newsletter as well as putting the finances in order, before being persuaded to come back as Treasurer again. He hope to pass on the mantle soon and take a well earned retirement from the role.

Bimla Jackson

Operations Director

Bimla has worked in events and management for over 12 years, having spent the last 6 running her own successful event consultancy for FTSE100 and high net worth clients. She has had many customer-facing roles, including positions within fundraising, sponsorship and development departments, giving her a good grounding in understanding the mechanisms of membership organisations. Her family are heavily involved in TV and Film production, working as actors, writers, producers and composers. She is excited to be working with the Guild Management Team, helping to bring the BFDG into its next chapter.

She then worked in property and, until recently, owned her own lettings and property management company. Sarah is very happy to be returning to the film industry, as she has a long term family connection with the Art Department and now her two children are carrying on the family legacy working there too.

Ali O’Neill

Communications Manager

Ali looks after the Guild’s communications, which range from our members’ Weekly Update email to the marketing of BFDG events. Her background is in Marketing and Interior Design. Before retraining as an interior designer, Ali worked in marketing at the Royal Opera House and advertising agency, Dewynters, before becoming freelance and working in regional theatre and audience development.
