This award is supported by: Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden

Warner Bros Studios Leavesden Logo

Winner: Amy Herring, Junior Draughtsperson

This award recognises those starting out in their career, working in film or TV Art Departments.

The intention of the Peter Lamont Spotlighting New Talent Award is to highlight the future stars of the next generation of filmmakers and is open to both BFDG members and non-BFDG members.

Named in honour of the late Production Designer and BFDG member Peter Lamont. Peter was always keen to help and support young talent in the Art Department and as this award’s intention is to highlight the future stars of the next generation of filmmakers the BFDG thought it would be a fitting tribute to dedicate this award to him.

The Winner & Finalists In This Category:

Amy Herring

Junior Draughtsperson

Oceans/Unreleased Production – PD: Charles Wood
Oceans/Unreleased Production – PD: Charles Wood

Amy was a great help to our team on my latest production, where sudden new requests made it necessary to employ an additional draughtsperson, to make sure we can deliver all our manufactured props on time. Amy had to familiarize herself with a fast-paced environment very quickly, since time was of the essence. Our Art Director had already finished on the show by then, so Amy worked with me directly, showing exceptional initiative by asking the right questions and even improving on the original brief whenever possible. Her work was reliable and always delivered way before the deadline, and, most importantly, she had a very positive approach to everything she does. She made me feel reassured and supported. The quality of Amy’s work is also outstanding, and I’m convinced that she would be an asset to any Set Dec or Art Department team.

Olivia Clarke

Set Dec Assistant

The Tree of Many Faces – PD: Olivia Clarke
Kathy and Jeb – PD: Olivia Clarke

Liv joined our department after she graduated from NFTS. I had met Liv at a mentoring day at the film school and decided to offer her a job on our next production. She could not have fitted into our team any better. She was creative, assertive, tactile, calm, honest, determined and so incredibly helpful. Totally efficient with every task she took on. For someone who was on her first job, she most certainly did not show it. From set dressing to researching, petty cashing to office admin, computer graphics to renaissance paintings – she was able to apply herself so wonderfully. She is an asset and someone we hope, will continue to keep working with us. A great assistant.

Libby Richardson

Junior Draughtsperson

The Marvels – PD: Cara Brower
Meg 2: The Trench – PD: Chris Lowe

Libby has been a fantastic asset to our team on Gladiator 2.  When I first met her I was first struck by her humility and willingness to get on with the job.  She ended up completing twice as many  designs as any of our other draughtspeople [which is no criticism of their input but an effort to highlight her extraordinary ability] and was respected by every member of our team – right up to the Set Decorator and Designer. Credit for Libby’s supreme ascension should in part be given to Dan Kearns [Art Director] who originally gave her the opportunity, on a previous job, to develop her skills and find her voice.  The product, the person, is someone who I have come to consider a close friend and ally in the Art Department/Set Dec and it would be my privilege to offer her name for consideration for this award.
