Winners Announced for the
British Film Designers Guild
production design Awards 2019
The winners of the British Film Designers Guild Awards have been announced at a ceremony hosted by Mark Kermode at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, London on Saturday 1 February 2020.
Fleabag, Chernobyl, Rocketman and Aladdin were among the winners with Oscar winning Set Decorator Peter Young picking up the special award for Lifetime Achievement.
At tonight’s British Film Designers Guild Awards some of the best talent in the British Art Department gathered at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Piccadilly, London to recognise and celebrate the success of their colleagues in film, television and light entertainment production design.
The evening was hosted by film critic and BBC Radio 5 Live presenter Mark Kermode. Major sponsors supporting the evening were film industry supply and service companies: BGI Supplies, Compuhire, Data Repro and Men at Work.

The BFDG awards was set up to recognise and to highlight the skills and creative importance of the work undertaken by the British Production Designers, Set Decorators, and their associated departments and crews. These talented individuals work behind the scenes bringing the Director’s vision to life and in turn allowing the viewer to travel on a totally immersive journey, through wildly imaginative environments and historical themes.
The British Film Designers Guild was established over 70 years ago and has a membership of over 500 talented individuals who represent every level in Film and Television Art Departments; those straight from education, to heads of department: Supervising Art Director, Set Decorator and Production Designer.
