I was introduced to Satdeep via a BFDG online mentoring session I was part of. She was immediately animated, articulate and full of potential. I wanted to find out more so was delighted when she followed the evening up with a phone call. She had been on Landscape Artist of the Year, had 2 children, was a huge Dr Who fan, lots of Graphics and illustrating experience – so a varied route into the industry. I saw talent and wanted to nurture it. She hadn’t worked on a large scale project before but I knew she would revel in it..! Having just finished 18 months as my Set Dec Assistant on The Sandman S2 at Shepperton I was delighted I gave her the opportunity. She has been fantastic! Organised; work flow charts to die for, Creative; painted many silk canvases for various sets, did various dressing plans and had wonderful graphics skills, Calm; supported my Set Dec Co Ordinator’s sometime frantic role and was the oil in our huge project of over 200 plus sets, locations all over the UK and every period one could imagine, she’s an excellent researcher too..! I want to support candidates from diverse backgrounds flourishing in our established industry and now Satdeeps skill is out there, thanks to the BFDG and it’s great that she will go on to have a successful career within our inclusive and dynamic industry.
