Created by freelance Production Buyer, Mairi Claire Bowser, these four systems resource maps visualise practical pathways for change across the UK’s Film and TV industry landscape in both social and environmental sustainability. Collectively, the maps turn fragmented knowledge into shared infrastructure – from ground level change to production or industry wide solutions – supporting better decisions, stronger collaboration, and a shift from intention to implementation across the industry.
Traces circular supply chains – linking second hand material suppliers, salvage networks, charities, and peer-to-peer exchanges – to reduce waste, carbon impact, and production spend, and to increase community driven initiatives both within and outside of our industry.
Highlights low-impact materials, skills, and regenerative approaches, supporting art and construction departments to design with materiality, human health, and reuse in mind.
Connects crew with organisations, toolkits, and information about their own rights to access work within the film & tv industry. It also highlights organisations and training available to help productions to embed inclusive practice throughout the production process.
Brings together existing research, organisations, consultants, international models and measurement tools, enabling productions to implement policy and action with clarity from the top down.

The award celebrates productions and creative teams that are leading the way in sustainable production design, recognising innovation, accountability, and positive impact within the screen industries.
The award was created in 2024 and forms a key part of the BFDG’s annual recognition of excellence in sustainable practice across the film and television industry.

Sustainable Film actively works in partnership with studios, crews and suppliers, cultivating a greater understanding of sustainable practices on set. It finds innovative affordable creative solutions, inspiring an appreciation of our planet’s resources. Its aim is to inspire a growing community of producers, designers and crews to embrace environmental responsibility as an everyday practice, without sacrificing the quality of their creative vision.
Founded in 2021, the business has worked on a large number of productions with many of the major studios, including Warner Bros, Amazon, HBO, Universal Pictures, Sony, Skydance and ITV.
Sustainable Film is a key partner in the BFDG’s Planet Positive Award and has been part of the judging panel since its conception in 2024.
CAMA is leading the way with sustainably managed storage. They safely move and store props, costumes, equipment, documents and artefacts that shows want to keep, and expertly clear unwanted items. Understanding waste hierarchy, CAMA actively looks for options to reuse items and get them back into production.

CAMA’s secure online portal logs and tracks assets, making monitoring and retrieving items easy in real time. Productions can use the portal to indicate items for sale, rental, reuse, recycling or donation to charity.
For fifteen years, BAFTA Albert has worked side-by-side with the UK’s screen community, helping transform the power of exceptional storytelling into measurable climate action – behind the scenes, on set and on screen. In 2024 BAFTA Albert collaborated with the BFDG to create the Planet Positive Award.
Backed by BAFTA’s creative DNA and cross-industry expertise, its work continues to support and unite the film and TV community in making sustainable choices. It provides practical tools, clear standards, direct actions, and certification that recognises change, positive impact and progress.
