Born in Glasgow Macbeth Street Parkhead, brought up in Easterhouse Scotland.
Following graduation from Glasgow School of Art where he obtained a Diploma in Murals and Stained Glass Design, painting was his first love. Andy then went on to spend a couple of years in the Town Art Dept of Livingston Development Corporation before securing his dream job, in 1978 training as an Assistant Designer at Thames Television London, working for such design talents as Norman Garwood (Brazil), Allan Cameron, (The Da Vinci Code) and David Marshall (Love in a Cold Climate)
Due to his fathers illness he returned to Scotland. in 1982. Since then Andy has enjoyed a varied career working on feature films and television production in locations ranging from the Outer Hebrides to Europe, London, Ireland, Africa, and the US. Andy has enjoyed the privilege of working with directors such as Bill Forsyth, Hugh Hudson, Gillies Mackinnon, Terence Davies and Stephen Frears.
