I studied architecture at Canterbury College of Art and then at Edinburgh University where I did my Diploma under the modern Movement Prof. Isi Metzstein who introduced me to his native city Berlin in 1989. I immediately resolved to make Berlin my base and moved there in 1991 to work as an architect. Specialising in conceptual design, my particular skill set, I also worked for two years in Hong Kong. By 2004 I was finding architecture too slow and decided to move into film. Being a set decorator has allowed me to really flourish and use all my skills and passions ; combining my love of travel, language, colour, interior design, architecture, history, sketching, painting, planning, budgeting and team management. I thrive from the challenge of making "something out of nothing" at an accelerated pace with a constantly changing brief and context and simultaneously embracing different cultures all over the world. My aim and signature as a Set Dec is "authenticity."
